The Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad Inc. (OVRS) is seeking candidates for the full-time position of paramedic/AEMT-CC.
Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue provides emergency 911 services to the City of Ogdensburg and its surrounding rural areas. It also provides transport from local hospitals to higher level care hospitals upon request. The rescue squad handled over 2,800 calls for service in 2018 and is currently on pace to pass those numbers in 2019. It currently has 46 volunteers ranging in training from driver to paramedic, operating four fully stocked ALS ambulances.
The paramedic/AEMT-CC position will be a full-time, 80 scheduled bi-weekly hours position that includes all OVRS benefits, such as: fully paid single medical, dental, and vision; IRA matching contributions; disability Insurance; and other savings opportunities. Other benefits include paid conference trainings, CMEs, and uniforms. The normal work hours will be 40 hours per week with some incurred overtime. Shifts will be 8 hours — currently 3:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. — but may change depending on company needs.
The position requires current paramedic/AEMT-CC certification and all the capacities of emergency care as a pre-hospital care provider with an emphasis on patient transports. The selected candidate will be expected to provide medical care and/or drive (in the absence of a volunteer driver) on both ALS & BLS 911 emergency calls and transports. There are required general housekeeping duties and vehicle maintenance responsibilities that must be completed during a shift, as well as special project assignments. Compensation will be based on experience and other related factors.
A resume must be submitted with the candidate’s application no later than May 31, 2019. Interested candidates can call 315-393-0837 to talk to Ken Gardner, Chief of Emergency Services. Applications can also be picked up at Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1223 Pickering Street, Ogdensburg, NY.
Applications can be mailed to: Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad Inc. Attn: Ken Gardner, P.O. Box 172, Ogdensburg, NY 13669, or submitted to the Chief of Emergency Services during normal business hours. This posting will close at 3:00 pm on May 31, 2019, and interviews will follow. Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad is an equal opportunity employer.
