This summer’s Medical Academy of Sciences and Health Camp will be held in July and August.
WATERTOWN – The Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization (FDRHPO), in collaboration with the Workforce Development Institute, is now accepting applications for its Medical Academy of Sciences and Health (MASH) Camp.
MASH Camp is a unique opportunity for students entering grades 8-12 to experience and explore the healthcare field in an interactive way. By participating in hands-on activities that highlight various career opportunities, students will learn about the educational requirements, skills, typical job duties and personal qualities of specific healthcare professionals.
Additionally, involvement in MASH Camp increases student awareness and understanding of the hospital setting and provides students the opportunity to network with healthcare professionals in their community to build long-term mentoring relationships.
Each 3-day session (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.) will help answer questions and provide students with a path to explore their career options in depth. Regardless of hospital placement, each day will be different and provide interesting, thought-provoking exercises and real-life experiences.
The 2-day session at SUNY Jefferson is a lab-based camp that explores Life Sciences through fun and engaging experiments. Students will learn proper lab technique while conducting experiments and activities in microbiology, human anatomy and physiology, blood typing and DNA analysis.
