SMC Emergency Department (beginning 3/17/2021)
- One (1) support person will be permitted to accompany patients in the Emergency Department.

- The support person will be asked to wait in the car until the patient’s COVID test is resulted.
- This means if the patient is presenting with COVID symptoms or is coming in for COVID testing
- The support person will be asked to wait in the car until the patient’s COVID test is resulted.

Please encourage a support person to wait in their car and then be called to the hospital

The support person must remain in the patient’s treatment room for the entire visit.

All support persons must be screened for COVID-19 symptoms (Temperature check, and verbalization of not meeting quarantine criteria)

Patients under the age of 21 may have one parent/guardian as an essential support person unless extenuating circumstances exist.

Patients with an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assistive Device) will be allowed to have a support person with them immediately upon arrival. (Regardless of any COVID-like symptoms)
