InformNNY: The 23rd Annual Spring Fling EMS Conference

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. (WWTI) — The North Country Regional Emergency Medical Services Council and the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization’s North Country EMS Program Agency are hosting the 23rd Annual Spring Fling EMS Conference from Thursday, April 11 to Saturday, April 13 at the Edgewood Resort & Conference Center in Alexandria Bay.


New this year, there will be an EMS escape room setup on-site that is a medical/trauma adventure game where teams will have to work together to solve puzzles, find clues and escape within 15 to 20 minutes.


Ronald Churchill will be the featured keynote speaker during the EMS Awards Dinner on Friday evening. Churchill began his career when he joined Town of Watertown Fire/Ambulance in 1975. In 1976 he became an EMT, in 1981 a Critical Care Technician  and in 1990 a Paramedic. He was Regional Faculty and taught many EMT classes. He worked/volunteered for Town of Watertown Fire/Ambulance, South Jefferson Rescue Squad, Inc., Guilfoyle Ambulance, Rural Metro/AMR and ended his career in 2018 after 17 years with Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Squad.


Regional EMS Awards will be presented in the following categories: 

  • ALS Provider of the Year; 

  • BLS; 

  • Provider of the Year; 

  • EMS Agency of the Year; 

  • EMS Communication Specialist of the Year; 

  • EMS Educator of Excellence; 

  • Excellence in Quality & Safety; 

  • Harriet C. Weber EMS Leadership Award; 

  • Registered Nurse of Excellence; 

  • Youth Provider of the Year; and 

  • The Richard Beebe Education Award.
