WWNY TV: Jefferson County Public Health receives donation

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - The Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization recently donated 50 pulse oximeters to help with Jefferson County Public Health’s Mobile Integrated Health Initiative.

A pulse oximeter is an electronic device that measures oxygen levels in red blood cells.

The donated devices will be distributed to residents who can benefit from reading their oxygen levels from home.

The goal is to reduce emergency visits and hospitalizations and therefore the burden on both the local EMS and hospital systems.

The devices also help the patient evaluate their own status and provide data they can share with their care team.
